Custom, conscious, handmade clothes
Custom Wedding Attire
Let’s design a one-of-a-kind piece for your wedding day.

“Collaborating with Sam never felt transactional. It felt like being accompanied by someone who truly cared about how I wanted to exist in my clothes. As a trans person, clothing and bodies can be complicated, and Sam met me with kindness, humanity, patience, humor, and genuine understanding.
Over time, Sam has become someone I deeply trust, as they’ve come to understand my style and the ways clothing intersects with identity. They’ve helped me reshape dozens of pieces until they felt more like me.”

About
BIAS Handmade is founded by Sam—a skilled sewist and textile artist.
Sam makes clothes for risk-takers, rule-breakers, and romantics. Using vintage and found materials, Sam reinvents traditional garments into contemporary pieces that center joy, creativity, and sustainability.
That instinct for reinvention comes from 15+ years of work in social justice movements. While having “a bias” means having a prejudice, cutting on “the bias” of a woven, non-stretch fabric frees it to bend and stretch in new ways.
The purpose of this work is to create a more just world that celebrates the diversity of the human experience. Whether it’s a training workshop, bespoke wedding outfit, or custom garment, Sam’s process focuses on curiosity, boldness, connection, and accountability.
“Collaborating with Sam is like swimming downstream: from beginning to end, the process felt fluid, comfortable, connected. Any opportunities I have had to work with or hire Sam has been 10/10. No notes.”
— Rae, collaborator + client

“I have worked with Sam on multiple projects, some where he’s altered garments to fit me better, and some where he coached me how to make my own clothes and expand my sewing skills. Every time I work with Sam, I leave feeling empowered, excited, seen, and encouraged. Highly recommend!”
